Day 2- The Play

My sweet Dad suprised me and my sisters with tickets to see one of the plays downtown Jackson. It was something we always enjoyed doing when we were growing up. And this year was the show "Grease"! How cool is that?

Oh, and before the play, Dad took us to dinner at our favorite-- Chinatown! Yummy. . . or. . . at least it was yummy for those of us who got to eat before the dinner was cold. I guess that is what you get for taking two babies to dinner! ;0)

Day 1- The Party

Since Kendi, Kira and Jaxon all have birthdays within about a month and a half of each other, we decided to do a group b-day party. And of course, how can you leave out sweet little Kamber. So here you have it-- the balloons,
the cupcake cake, the presents
-- so fun! Thank you everyone for the fun gifts and the fun time!

Day 1- Playing with Grandma and Papa

The girls and I spent the last week with the May family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. What fun we had! The first day we spent having fun at the house. Kira, Kamber and Kendi loved playing in the playhouse, took a dip in the "tub",

played with the dogs,
"cleaned" the front porch,

jumped on the trampoline,

did some finger painting and generally just had fun.

Happy Birthday, Little Pita

My sweet little munchkin turned 1 yesterday. . .my how time flies! And how much has happened in that year. Crazy!

We love our little Pita to death! She is spoiled by everyone in the family. Here are her statistics:

Weight: 15 pounds, 15 ounces
Length: 26.5 inches

She can now wave bu-bye, clap and shake her head no. It is hilarious to watch her do-- she kind of acts like she has some weird kink in her neck or a neck spasm or something. She isn't walking yet-- but is very close. She has the ability, she is just VERY cautious. Oh, and she also likes to stand on her head like this:

She loves to make her sisters laugh.

Her hair is getting long and it is bleach blond! And I LOVE it! If memory serves (which, often it doesn't), I believe she is my blondest. But I don't think she is going to keep her blue eyes. They already are starting to look a little grey, just like her sisters eyes did.

For her birthday, we let her eat her own cake. She of course loved it.
And made a mess.
She got some cute new jammies from Grandma Payzant- so cute! And a fun bathtub toy. Thank you, thank you!!!

Baby girl, we love you so much! You make us smile even when life is crazy.

Book Review

This summer we are trying to spend a lot of time reading. Kira needs LOTS of practice and Kamber is starting to figure out the reading thing as well. We go to the library about once a week and I am suprised at how hard it is to find GOOD early reading books. Alot of them are actually from the 80s- like when I was reading! And they are called things like, "The Tan Cap", "The Best Pals", and other random, simple words that my girls have no idea the meaning of. We have never used the word 'cap' or 'pals'- ever! So weird. For some reason I figured if you were just learning to read you would want common words that were easy to figure out from the picture. But anyway, I thought I would share some of our (mine and the girls) favorite books right now, that seem to be good for new readers, just in case any of you are looking for good ones, too.

The first is a set of I don't know how many by Olivier Dunrea. They are called "Gossie and Friends." They are simple stories about cute little goslings that are easy to read but at the same time introduce new vocabulary. And the story itself is fun to read. And the illustrations are adorable.

We highly recommend every one in the series.

Another series we love, that is also good for new readers is the "Elephant & Piggie" books by Mo Willems. They always make us laugh. The illustrations are very simple, but entertaining. The pigeon series by the same author is another of our favorites.

If any of you have any other suggestions, please, PLEASE let us know! We always need new suggestions.

Apartments

Okay, so apartments. Yeah. Last Sunday night, water starts poring into our bathroom through the vent in the ceiling-- toilet water. Stinky toilet water. Brownish-yellow stinky toilet water. And because it is falling from the ceiling all the way to the floor, it is splashing EVERYWHERE!!!

Then, for the past few weeks I have been hearing a drip behind one of our walls. I called it in to the office. They found a leak in the upstairs apartment and thought that would fix it. It didn't. I called again. They checked my dishwasher-- no leak. Everyone thought I was losing my mind. Leak still not fixed. Then last night, water starts oozing out of my wall where our telephone jack is. I call in again. Maitenance comes again. The upstairs AC unit is leaking into our wall and now we have mold growing on our ceiling, mold under our carpet, sheetrock damage, holes in our walls. Ummm, yeah. I am LOVING apartments!
