For those of you who don't know, I am one of three girls. And my three girls are the first three grandbabies on my side of the family. Also, of the nine grandkids on the May side, only two are boys. So, you can imagine how exciting everyone is for the newest addition: Jaxon Hogan, my sister Lexie and her husband Shane's baby. Welcome to the world, cutie! 7 lb. 11 ozs., 19.5" long, born Aug. 24, 2008.

First Day of School!
On Monday, Kira started her first day of Kindergarten. Yeah! She was so excited. I thought she might have a hard time when I was leaving, but the only person that was upset was Kamber, because she couldn't go to school, too! She has done great so far. . . here is a picture of her with her backpack. Again, no idea what is with the face. . . either I am a terrible photographer (very possible) or Kira just doesn't photograph very well. Anyway. . .
Today she managed to get lost. Appartently she lined up with the bus kids at the end of the day and was about to get on a bus when her teacher realized she was gone. There were several teachers out looking for her and the rest of the class couldn't be excused until she was found. That's my girl!

Tacky!
Okay, I am sure this is extremely tacky, but I need some encouragement to lose some of this baby weight. So, I am going to use you all to keep me going! I have a little side bar with the amount of weight I want to lose and each day I will add (hopefully never!) or subtract to it. I am hoping that with everyone I know watching my weight loss, I won't have the nerve to cheat. So, thanks for your help!

Another Baby Tidbit
Okay it seriously looks like we dyed our baby's hair. She has really dark hair, but the roots are growing in very blonde. I am so excited! Brandon was a little toe-head and I have really wanted one of our babies to be really blonde. Maybe Kendi will be that blonde for me!!!
Okay, one more. Have any of you ever tried to get your baby to sleep on their side? From my experience it is nearly impossible. They always roll onto their back. Not so with my little babe. She LOVES to be on her side. If you put her on her back, she will roll to her side. And she rolls from side to side. Yes, ALREADY ROLLING!!! Can you believe it?

Happy Birthday, Kira!
The big 5! Kira turned 5 on August 9th. She told me she wanted a suprise birthday, with a pink cake and number candle on the cake and green sprinkles. She was very specific. I am not sure if she really knew what a suprise party was, but I decided to try and suprise her. We didn't tell her it was her birthday all day and then we suprised her at the Reeves' home with a pizza party. This was the look on her face when we walked in and everyone yelled "Suprise!"

It seriously took her several minutes to figure out what was going on. Finally, she looked at me and said "I'm five now?" with complete shock and elation in her voice.

And cake, of course!

And no, I have no idea what the deal is with her smile. That's just Kira for ya!
Happy Birthday, my big girl!

My Goofy Girl
At the hospital I had a nurse telling me about all the people she knew that were born breech. . . and how backward they all were! I was hoping she was wrong, but Kendi does have a few odd habits. She is rather cranky and doesn't like very many things. She likes her swing okay sometimes, but at 4 weeks figured out how to roll out of the swing.
She HATES having her diaper changed and makes sure everyone in Clark County knows when she is put through it. She screams so hard and loud that it usually makes her pee. Now, I know everyone says it is bad to have a boy because they pee on you, but at least they just pee in one direction. When Kendi pees, it goes everywhere!!!! Little stinker. Then, the funniest part is that as soon as I fasten the second diaper strap, she stops crying and just looks around like she has no cares in the world.
Ever since she was very tiny, Kendi has loved the sound of running water. Sometimes when she is out of control crying, I will take her in the bathroom and just turn the water on to calm her down. Needless to say, her favorite time of day is her bath.
Kendi has never really liked binkies. We have a whole collection of cute little binkies (NUKs are my favorite! They even have new ones with cute little flowers on them!).

We tried several different brands to see if we could get her to take one. And guess which one she finally decided on. . .
The goofiest looking one ever! What a silly girl. These are called Soothies and she loves them! Kamber was very good about falling asleep with the binky in and then spitting it out shortly thereafter and staying asleep. Not so with Kendi. She wakes up if the binky comes out and, yes, you guessed it, starts crying. What a goober!
She is sleeping a little better at night. We usually get one 4-6 hour block. Thank goodness!
It amazes me how unique each little tiny baby can be. They come out with their very own personality and this one is a fiesty little thing-- and always has been! Even inside of me. It's a good thing we love her so much!

Oops!

Help! Brandon & I are walking Zombies!
Does anyone have any good ideas to get my little one to sleep longer at night? Every hour and a half just isn't working for us. And yes, she is eating A TON! At this rate she will be 20 pounds by 2 months! I just can't get her to sleep longer than an hour and a half at a time for most of the night, although she does fall asleep fast. Any suggestions?
