When I figured out I was pregnant this time, I was determined not to gain so much weight and not to wear tents and the like. . . in other words, I wanted to be pregnant and CUTE! You know, like when you travel to Utah and see all those girls that are nine months pregnant and still look like models. Anyway, I have to say, I am getting discouraged. I am doing better with gaining weight-- but not enough better to make a whole lot of difference. I have determined that regardless of what I do, I gain weight when I am pregnant. For one whole month I worked out really hard and ate better than I have for months and I STILL gained weight!
So, the weight is still a problem, but there are so many others!!! For one, all cute maternity dresses are short. And not just knee length, SHORT-SHORT!!! Who's idea was that? Who wants to see fat maternity ankles? Second, maternity clothes are so limited & expensive!!! I have had to order almost everything online and you know how that goes. . . you have to return half the stuff. Also, they all seem to have scoop necks which are not TOO immodest, but somehow do not work with my g's (how does everyone else seem to get away with it?).
And then there is the shoe problem. I LOVE funky, tall shoes. I don't really go for extreme clothes or hair or jewelry, but shoes are completely open to extremes. Here are my two latest additions:
Totally cool, right? The only problem is that I am so big pregnant already that I am top heavy and unbalanced. It is very hard for me to get down our stairs in these funky shoes. Also, they always leave me with scabs and bruised feet. I don't know if I just have weird feet that don't work in normal shoes or if everyone deals with this, but every new pair of shoes that I buy leave me scarred. Right now I have over 5 different scabs on my feet from two different pairs of shoes. What we go through to try and look good. . .
So, I leave you with this question. Is it possible to look good and be pregnant or am I just doomed for the next three & a half months? (Brandon thinks I should just invest in floor-length moo-moos!)

haha...this is funny. Mainly b/c I have felt the same way this time around. I told myself that I wasn't going to gain as much weight and try and be cute. But I just don't think that is my body type. No matter what, my body seems to hold on to everything! It's actually pretty frustrating. And I noticed that my feet and legs get a little thicker too...so nothing looks very cute. Not even my neckline! Ha! I guess I am just not one of those fortunate girls that is able to pull of a cute pregnancy. I've come to realize! And when I see one....it's a little frustrating. Especially when I am pregnant. :) But...that's ok...I would rather be a little bigger than sick all the time and skinny.
Um, where's a picure of you being pregnant so we can see?? J/k. I bet you are cute when you are prego...and you should tell Brandon to wear the moo moos! :) It's a good thing to gain weight when your pregnant...at least that's what i would tell myself everytime I stepped on the scale! Oh what we go through to bring these little rug rats into this world. Don't stress about it. As long as you and your little babe are healthy that's all that really matters!!
Ha! You could totally pull off being cute in a moo-moo in those shoes (way cute btw)! Honestly, it's not fair the price we pay but they are worth it. And amen again, what is it with these darn Utah women? Heaven forbid you go to the grocery store in your sweats let alone look less than fabu when your prego! I only put on makeup because I would scare everyone if I didn't. Oh btw, KU is going down!
Leisel-If you could spend a day in my body even after being pregnant then you can complain. HaHaHa. I totally understand about wanting to be cute and pregnant of course I would like to look that way even when I'm not pregnant. But for me I don't think that will be the case. I would send you a picture of me in all my glory to make you feel good about yourself but I just don't have the guts to take that kind of a picture and plus I think it would just scare you. I think you are totally cute and you have nothing to worry about and tell that brother of mine that he is a very lucky man because if he had someone like me for a wife he would probably get squashed in those intimate postitions! HaHaHa! Love you guys!
I am impressed you even attempt shoes like that. I have like one pair and every time I put them on, I take them off within a few minutes cause I can't handle the pain!
....you look very cute pregnant!
hahaha. you are so cute, what are you talking about. i use to be WAY jealous of you whenever i saw you pregnant. i feel really chubby all the time! this pregnancy esp and i am only 8 weeks!
don't worry...your cute...even in scrubs!
You are too funny! You are darling while pregant. Now I love your shoes, and i agree you may have to put up with a bit of pain to enjoy them but I think they are worth it! But then I also have a husband that is a foot taller than I am and tall shoes are a necessity.
